Read this if you want to know what barrierdew.com does with data. Barrierdew publishes Barrierdew, and this page covers collection, use, sharing, and your options.
Our Newsletter
The newsletter is confirmed opt-in: you enter an address, we email to check it was really you, and only then are you added. Every message we send carries a one-click unsubscribe and our postal address. Leaving is immediate and permanent.
What It Is Used For
The information is used to keep the site working, to understand which of our guides, comparisons and reference pages are actually read, to send the newsletter to people who asked for it, and — where advertising is served — to support that advertising.
Cookies Summary
- Cookies and similar browser storage are covered separately, in detail, in our Cookie Policy.
-
Where advertising is served, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
Minors
This is not a children’s site. It is not directed to under-13s (or under-16s where that threshold applies), no data is knowingly collected from them, and any that arrives is deleted once identified.
Categories of Data
Two kinds of information reach us. The first is automatic: standard server and analytics data such as IP address, approximate location, device and browser details, and which pages of barrierdew.com were viewed. The second is whatever you deliberately hand over — a comment, a newsletter signup, or a message you send us.
- Given what we write about, this is worth being explicit about: we ask readers not to send us sensitive personal details, and we delete rather than retain anything of that kind that reaches us unprompted.
Retention and Safeguards
Retention is purpose-bound: analytics records expire on their provider’s cycle, mailing-list entries persist only while you remain subscribed, and comment data stays as long as the comment does. We restrict who can reach the data, serve the site over encrypted connections, and apply safeguards proportionate to the (limited) sensitivity of what we hold — no system is completely secure.
Partners and Providers
The parties that may receive data are our hosting provider, any analytics service in use, the email platform behind the newsletter, and advertising networks where advertising is served. Advertising and analytics vendors generally act as independent controllers; the rest act as processors on our instruction.
Exercising Your Rights
Whichever framework applies to you — UK/EU GDPR, California’s CCPA/CPRA, or another US state law — you can generally request access, correction, deletion, or portability of your data, object to particular uses, and opt out of sale or sharing for advertising. Global Privacy Control signals are honoured without you needing to contact us. Our State Privacy Notice and Do Not Sell or Share page go further.
